Foreign investment coming to Turkey this year increased by 6.3% from June last year to June, reaching about 12.4 billion USD.
When we look at the general trend of foreign direct investments to Turkey until the first years of 2000, we could observe a horizontal trend. We can say the investments increase with the beginning of 2003 year. Direct investments increased by 6.3% from June last year to June this year, reaching approximately 11 billion 646 million USD from 12 billion 385 million USD. Outgoing investments from the country increased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year. During the January-June period of foreign investment from Qatar and Turkey took first place in the UK. Despite the varying amounts, it was observed that the investments from the UK were regular and the investments from Qatar were concentrated in June.
Incoming investments increased by approximately 188 million USD in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year and amounted to 3.1 billion USD. 19.4% of this investment came from Qatar, 18.7% from the UK and 17.5% from Azerbaijan. While the sale of housing to the foreigners continued in full swing, it reached 24 thousand 144 units in the January-July period. In the same period last year, 14 thousand 674 units sold to foreigners, while the increase in the period in question was 64.5 percent. Housing sales to foreigners in July this year, an increase of 46.7 percent compared to the same period last year rose from 2 thousand 858 to 4 thousand 192. Thus, the best July figures in history of housing sales to foreigners were seen.
